WJC / U23 Skiers Come Up Big: Pillar Project Update

The World Junior Championships and U23 Championships are a cornerstone of skiing development. This year’s crop of skiers has delivered big in Almaty with a 6th place from Ben Saxton (SMS/T2) in the U23 Classic Sprint, an 11th from Ian Torchia (NMU) in the WJC skiathlon and another 6th from Katherine Ogden (SMS) in the WJC skiathlon.

Furthermore, Scott Patterson (APU), Patrick Caldwell ( Dartmouth, SMS) and Kyle Bratrud (NMU) finished 13th, 15th and 19th respectively in the U23 15K, a strong result.

The NNF has supported these events with $65,000 in funding because the promise of U.S. skiing is very much alive. Congratulations to the skiers on strong results this week and strong results to come. Thank you so much! I am here at the U23 World Championships in Val di Femme, Italy. It would not be possible to be here without the support of the NNF.
