The Eastern REG Camp recently concluded at Stratton Mountain School. Despite the warn temperatures, the athletes had great and diverse training.
As Ben Theyrel, NENSA Comp Director said, “REG continues to be a bedrock for Eastern skiing. We pride ourselves on developing competitive athletes in the community, and there’s no other program which does that for athletes, and for the coaches supporting them, like a training block at REG. NNF makes sure that this vital regional programming is a link to our national community, and we’re thankful for their support”.
Steve Bruner, SMS Coach and Director at Viking Nordic added, “What’s even more rewarding than coaching a great bunch of young skiers is spending time with great skiers who are also great people. Kids and coaches alike, the 2025 Eastern REG Camp was an outstanding group.”
During the winter we are all competing against each other, but when REG comes around, we get to train and work together as a region. REG camp is a big reason why many of my competitors have become some of my best friends. REG camp is also a time where you meet and learn from new coaches each of whom have different knowledge and coaching styles.
I am thankful for the support NNF has provided for REG camps, national camps, and race trips. NNF has brought clubs and skiers together from around the country. We will always compete against one another but by working together we can all get faster and achieve greater goals as a country. NNF is at the root of that mission.
Eastern REG at SMS this summer was a great time! This being my fifth REG and likely my last, it was great to reflect on my time at these camps and try to help reciprocate in creating a positive community for upcoming athletes. I feel so lucky to have had the past five years of growing support from NNF, having been to REGs across two regions and now a couple of national camps. NNF has a clear image of where they want to push the nations skiing which is not only felt through the amazing coaches who come to camps, but also an inspirational ideal to carry forward as an athlete currently in the system. I’m grateful to now know many board members on NNF and even more appreciative of everyone else making tiny pushes behind the scenes.
