Hello from Park City! My name is Kate Oldham and I’m here at the National Elite Group training camp working on the final touches of summer training before the snow flies… or so we thought.

We’ve seen all sorts of weather this week including some pretty big snowstorms leaving inches on the ground! Luckily for us, when we did our skate sprint time trial on Wednesday, it was blue skies and dry pavement by mid-morning.

Having our camp in congruence with the last US Ski Team camp before the season starts give us a couple opportunities to line up with some of the best skiers in the world which is super motivating and also a fun chance to meet new people.

On Wednesday we started the qualifier in some brisk temperatures but by the time the heats started, it turned into a beautiful day and a fun atmosphere where everyone seemed happy to be outside putting in work together—I know I was!

I’ll be looking forward to US Nationals when we can all line up again in Soldier Hollow and show off the fitness and skills we’ve gained by doing stuff like this, but until then, I’ll be back at school in Middlebury with renewed focus and so much gratitude for NNF and the people who make opportunities like these possible.
