Hi everyone,
This is Daniel McCollor from Minneapolis Ski Club based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. After a beautiful training day in Falun, Sweden, I was very excited to race with the eleven other American athletes from across the country.
The training day consisted of a pretty standard pre-race routine. We got the opportunity to test skis in the morning and then, in the afternoon, we had a fantastic ski getting used to the weather and course, and then doing some speed work to get set for our sprint race!
Sprint day was supposed to be a pretty jam-packed day, but with some cold weather delays our day was compressed. Following qualifying we were informed that the heats would not happen. I’m slightly bummed that I didn’t get to watch some more racing, it was very fun vibes with the team and we put through five to the heats!
It’s pretty easy to get caught up in the moment, but we’re all still remembering that we are representing the US and giving it our all to compete at the highest level towards all our goals! I can wholeheartedly say that without the support and hard-work from those at the National Nordic Foundation (NNF) and the US Ski Team that this trip would not be possible.
Sincerely,
Daniel McCollor, Minneapolis Ski Club, Team USA
