This is Gavin Galyardt and Woody West, your favorite bobcat duo, here to give you a mid-week run-down of what we’ve been up to thus far. These camps present amazing opportunities to turn other athletes who’d normally be competitors we only get to see on the race track to teammates and friends. Along with that, it also allows us to work with high-level coaches who provide new perspectives. These camps also provide us with opportunities to work on things that we normally don’t work on in our day-to-day training.

One new area we have been exploring is a short session of speed, coordination, and mobility exercises every morning led by Brian Neff, a US Ski and Snowboard Strength and Conditioning Coach at the Center of Excellence. This allows us to learn new dryland foot-based acceleration and agility movements that will offer new ways to increase power and speed on skis. These sessions with Brian Neff also provide us with a good set of movements and skills that we can bring back to our home team. Brian Neff is a man of many talents, from being an amazing coach to having luxurious hair, he also blew us away with his guitar skills while he was playing in downtown Park City.
Along with these focused off-ski sessions, we have done a lot of on-ski work at Soldier Hollow, where Greta says we are prepping for the 2034 Olympic Games.
We have done a lot of technique work and one intensity session. This camp is a lot smaller than most, so we have been able to get pretty personalized and focused technique work, which is super beneficial.
Outside of training, we have had some heated debates, but have firmly concluded that the best Gatorade flavor is red and that Rossignol uses the color orange, not red. We have also had a full-on operational barber shop in the basement bathroom of our condo. This is thanks to the skills of Callahan Waters.

That’s it for now, we are gonna get back to eating all the snacks at the COE and working on our heart rate monitor tans. Thanks for listening, and now you can get off your phone and go outside!
