A longtime fixture of the Midwestern race calendar, the Seeley Hills Classic went Super…Tour this year, hosting a back-to-back race weekend which saw the SuperTour field race their first true distance event of the year – 32 kilometers – followed by an individual classic sprint on Sunday.

In the Women’s field, it was an espcially strong weekend for Bridger Ski Foundation and Craftsbury Green Project. The latter saw Margie Freed ski to a 3rd place finish in the 32 k, before winning the classic sprint on Sunday. Freed followed a BSF 1-2 finish in the 32 k from winner Hannah Rudd and 2nd place Mariah Bredal, while Sarah Goble finished 2nd in the sprint and Hannah Rudd finished 3rd. The BSF skiers collectively moved their team into 3rd in the Women’s Classification, and helped boost the Bozeman squad to 2nd in the Overall classification. Freed, alongside a strong 4th place finish from teammate Michaela Keller-Miller in the 32 k, saw the Craftsbury Green Racing Project move into 2nd place in the Women’s classification.

BSF also had a strong weekend in the Men’s field, with Graham Houtsma heading up a the charge with a victory in the classic sprint. APU was a strong force the whole weekend as well, seeing Zanden McMullen and Garrett Butts finish in 2nd and 3rd place behind winner Peter Wolter (Sun Valley) in the 32 k, and Michael Earnhart finish 2nd place in the classic sprint. BSF and APU’s efforts did not change the standings in the Men’s field, with University of Utah still out front, but did significantly close the gap on the Utes in the NNF Cup standings.

University of Utah remains on top of the standings as the SuperTour heads into a break ahead of the busy block ahead for many of its skiers – World Cup starts, Junior World Ski Championships, and World University Games all beckon for the talented crop of skiers who skied in Cable last weekend.
