The Regional Elite Group (REG) camp model has been the staple of NNF’s summer programming for years. Part of our Pillar Projects, REG is where the coordinated effort of developing a truly united ski community in the United States takes place. The big idea; bring together young skiers from across a region together for a concentrated training block, and to inspire each other with the dedication that they are putting into becoming better skiers. The way it looks in practice; some big adventures, some focused fun, and a ski community that becomes better, together.

This year, the REG calendar begins in the West, with the most geographically dispersed Division in US Skiing coming together in Bend, Oregon starting Saturday, June 22nd. Bend is an ideal of a western ski town, where if you know where to look, the winter never left, and indeed, a quick glance at the preliminary schedule shows that camp leaders Lizzie Larkins (Montana State), Bernie Nelson (Auburn Ski Club), and Greta Anderson (US Ski and Snowboard) have plans to get some of the best young skiers in the West on snow in late June.

There’s no other better way to start ski training for next winter than with a reminder that it’s always closer than you think, and the attendees at Western REG will likely get that, and a lot more traditional summer training (read, rollerskis!) to keep the stoke high as the summer of training swings into full gear.
